      Reflecting on my sound recording experience, I found that our group worked well together, bouncing  ideas off of one another, as well as allowing our own idiosyncratic personalities to be a pretext for creative designs; e.g. the horrific demon cries of Christian or lovely mouth sounds by Dylan.
      The small group format was, again, great for fostering collective ideals on how we should go about composing our sound library; but was also helpful in re-familiarizing ourselves with the equipment and re-affirming the importance of work with others. It's essential that we all learn to work with others and allow communal input and different threads of ideas to conceive of a unified project. One in which neither singular creativity in hindered, nor the ideas of others eschewed.

Observations of Light: The Light Meter

     Having practice with the light meter was both challenging and truly rewarding. The device itself still overwhelms me at times, though more conceptually than practically. Consider how this device functions; with good, ole-fashioned mechanics and no computer chip! This detailed little instrument was key to providing us with a range of F-stops and other specs for composing our shots. Sometimes the human eye can be a little biased in how something looks subjectively, but I feel as though the light meters is a key way of getting an objective read on the available light, and to best utilize this to our advantage in choosing how and what to shoot. Once our footage is fully processed, we’ll have some visual feedback on our photos and see how use of the instruments reflect our work.

Self- Portrait Proposal

                To be candid, I’m a bit unsure how I should go about this portrait. I want to find a way to survey myself without being self-serving. Find a means to be self-aware, but not self-conscious. It’s funny how often we tend to be so divided, so dually self-gratifying and self-effacing. I certainly don’t want to celebrate myself, if fact I’m not sure if I truly could. If I can, I would like to find a way to survey myself, but without glorifying or memorializing my image in any way. I would be better if I reflect, better yet, refract my image. These certainly pose some restrictions, but I think that setting boundaries will be a good means a discovering some new avenue to portraying myself. Final Class Reflection

                It feels almost like it’s over before it truly began. Then again, looking back, we’ve all been through so much together. What a fun-filled, peculiar journey it’s been! It’s been a pleasure working with so many of you and getting to know you more throughout this fall!                 Sifting through the memories seems a bit like a Jonas Mekas reel flittering through a projector. Little fragments and recollections flash by, as memory attempts to conjure little highlights of the total experience.                 The course wasn’t easy by any means, i.e. deadlines, multiple interweaving projects, bringing conceptual ideas to life; however, this class thought me more than I could’ve hoped for.
